William Hill launches enhanced online poker site
03.07.2007
This week sees William Hill officially release the latest software version for their online poker site, launched in January 2003. In their first big advertising campaign for poker, William Hill has a solus deal with The Sun to promote their online poker tables. The campaign was planned and bought by Vanessa Doyle, Acting Head of Press at Initiative.

This is the first major advertising campaign for the poker website (www.williamhillpoker.com). The aim of the campaign is to build awareness of the William Hill poker site and promote their non-racing products to their target audience of men aged 18-44 who have access to the internet at home. The objective of the campaign is to encourage readers to go online and enter a poker game for free.

The campaign is running for a week, with a 4 page pull out, page advertorials, and numerous teaser ads appearing in The Sun. Ads will also appear all over The Sun website, driving traffic directly to the site. The activity will build up over the week culminating with a Sun reader and partner winning a place at the $1M Caribbean Poker Classic in St Kitts. The campaign is worth £500k.

William Hill already has a great relationship with The Sun as they sponsor its ‘Favourite’ supplement on a Saturday. Vanessa Doyle, Acting Head of Press at Initiative commented that “There is a great affinity between The Sun readership and William Hill customers, so The Sun is the perfect partner for the William Hill brand”.
